Mikasa makeup brushes + lemon drop

Hey guys,

I hope you all are having an absolutely wonderful day! Today I am blogging about this amazing brand that actually contacted me about their products. I did a little research before I agreed to work with them and the reviews on their products were amazing. So, of course I dove right in to partner up with MikasaBeauty.com ! They sent me an eye makeup kit and their extremely popular Lemon Drop! Y'all know I'm a Beauty Blender lover, so I tried my best to go in open minded

Mikasa brush set // Lemon Drop sponge

When I received my package in the mail, I couldn't help but drool over the packaging. I mean black and gold?! I have always found those two colors together to seem very luxurious and bold. Each individual box that the brush came in contained a desciption of exactly what the brush was to be used for. Unless you're like me, I don't particularly go by the books when it comes to what brushes I am supposed to use to get a certain look. I just play around with them and figure out which brush I like to use the best to achieve certain looks. I'm a total rebel! HA!

So, same as with the Beauty Blender, I dampened my Lemon Drop and used it to apply my Mac Pro Longwear foundation. In all honesty, my makeup glided on the same way it does with the Beauty Blender AND was equally just as soft as the Beauty Blender. I didn't know anything else so perfect could exist, but it does! It is a little more bulky than what I am used to but I'm sure after several applications, I will get it down pat.

This was the first brush I used in achieving my eye makeup look for the day. I always start out in the crease with the second darkest color (MAC's Brown Down) and I just blend, blend, blend until the shadow is spread out evenly enough for the next color to  be applied. One thing I absolutely HATE seeing when it comes to makeup, is when the eye makeup isn't blended. It absolutely sends chills down my spine in the worst way. That's probably my BIGGEST makeup pet peeve. Second being an obvious line showing your face makeup isn't the same as your natural color, again an easy blending fix.

After I applied the second darkest shade of eye shadow in the creases, I then applied the darkest color of today's palette (MAC's Brun) to the corners of my eyes with my pencil brush and blended the color out evenly, I then applied the same shade with my pencil brush to the creases very lightly allowing the eyes to fully pop and making the center of the crease the darkest point for more depth.

Once I was finished applying eye shadow to my creases and corners, I then applied the eyelid eye shadow in MAC's Tempting. I always apply to the creases first in every situation because it sets the tone for the rest of the eye makeup.

The angled brush was the last brush I used to complete my eye makeup look. I gently went over the top of my eyeliner to blend it in a little with my eye shadow to acheive a more sultry, smoky eye look. SIDE NOTE: I do apply my Nyx milk stick to my lower lids but I DO NOT apply liner or eye shadow because it tends to close my eyes in. Mascara on the bottom lashes gives me the results I need. As far as the brow bone goes, I used a separate brush that I've had for quite some time to apply my MAC Nylon. It is a smaller brush with almost a fan like shape. I searched for years for the perfect brush to apply at the brow bone and I will never change that up.

Overall, I would totally recommend these brushes to anyone experienced in makeup or just starting out. They are so fun to use and don't shed. My favorite is they pick up so much shadow in one swipe and spread the pigment out so well which overtime saves money on the eye shadow because you aren't using as much. I plan on getting the face brushes next to see how well they work and of course there will be a review to follow. Mikasa Beauty has been kind enough to allow me to offer a special promo code to all my sweet followers! When checking out just use promo code TAMARAPHILLIPS25 to save 25% on your ENTIRE purchase. I hope you guys enjoyed today's post and have a blessed day!

xoxo,
Tamara Rose
