Nyx vs ColourPop matte lips

Hey y'all,

So today I'm doing a review on two matte lip products. I haven't done a makeup review in a hot minute and I'm gonna try to start doing more! My reviews are all my own opinion. I am not sponsored by these brands.

So let's get to it. I have purchased several colors from the Nyx Matte Lip Cream line and also from ColourPop's Long Wearing Matte Lips. Both offer a wide variety of beautiful colors. So when applying my makeup, I always put foundation all over with my damp Beauty blender, even my lips. After I apply the rest of my makeup, I go over my lips with MAC Studio Fix powder. I feel like having a base on my lips as well makes the lip color I'm using stay true to color. It also allows my lips to stay put all day. Before applying the matte lip, I always line my lips first for a fuller look.

Okay, now here we go. The Nyx Matte Lip I was not a fan of at all. It's almost like it doesn't dry...I know it's a 'cream' but I feel like it should stay put... and it doesn't stay on very long either, leaving me with having to reapply several times a day. Nyx cosmetics is one of my favorite inexpensive brands so it completely took me by surprise that I didn't just love this product. Now, ColourPop on the other hand I actually came across on Pinterest. I often times look to them for makeup inspiration, brands and reviews. I signed up for their emails and it just so happened they were having free shipping at the time so I purchased two colors to try. Although one of the colors wasn't very flattering (making my teeth look super yellow) the other has been my everyday lip color since receiving it. Seesaw is the name if you were wondering. With my complexion, blue undertone lips work best for me. I have not had one time where I have had to reapply throughout the day with ColourPop, which is what I want. I will sometimes put a gloss over the matte lip if I want more shine but even then, no reapplying needed. I also like that it dries and stays put. Also, and this is kind of funny...but I hate those windy days when my hair gets all stuck up on my lips, no worries with this!! 🙌🏻

I hope you all found today's post helpful and again, I'm going to start doing more makeup reviews on here. I love fashion and this is a life and style blog so that's covered  BUT I feel like I receive more questions about my makeup then anything. And y'all feel free to give me your input on what you want to see more of. If it weren't for you amazing followers I wouldn't be doing this in the first place. Your opinions matter more than you know 😘 Love you guys!

xoxo,
Tamara Rose
